Balloon Payment

A large lump-sum payment due at the end of a loan or lease term. It represents the remaining balance not covered by regular monthly payments. Example: A Nairobi taxi operator leases a car with monthly payments of KES 15,000 for 3 years, then a final balloon payment of KES 200,000 to own the vehicle outright.
